# Calliope > Calliope is a macOS writing app built for authors and AI agents to work on the same manuscript. ## Current product facts - Calliope connects a manuscript to Codex through an MCP server. - The author writes and edits in Calliope while Codex works across the same manuscript. - Codex can read, edit, analyze, and organize scenes and chapters through Calliope's manuscript tools. - Selected-text agent revisions can be reviewed before entering the draft. - The manuscript is stored in local Markdown files with structured metadata on the writer's Mac. - Durable changes are recorded in Git, with comparison and restore. - A private GitHub repository can provide backup and synchronization. - Codex is supported now.
