1. Begin with manuscript files on your Mac

A CalliopeWriter project keeps scene text in local Markdown files on the writer’s Mac. The manuscript remains easy to inspect and move instead of living only inside one company’s database.

2. Choose your agent

Connect ChatGPT Codex or Claude Code. The agent works with CalliopeWriter instead of a pasted chat excerpt. When no agent is connected, the writer can continue editing, saving, and keeping version history.

3. Ask for the revision you want

A connected agent can help with selected text, a scene, a chapter, or a larger set of chapters. A clear request makes the work easier to review.

4. Inspect the result

The agent’s proposed changes stay reviewable in context. The goal is not to maximize generated words; it is to help the writer make a better-informed decision.

5. Keep changes or go back with confidence

CalliopeWriter keeps a version history as the manuscript changes, including while offline. Compare the manuscript before and after a revision and recover earlier work. When online, the writer can manually back up that history to an optional private GitHub repository.
